Lifelong Learning

Lifelong learning is the foundation of personal and intellectual evolution. It’s a process that goes far beyond formal education—one that embraces science, self-inquiry, and daily observation. Whether through Vedanta or physics, the learning never ends. Happy to receive this certificate!

Finally received the much-awaited certificate, though I’m not satisfied with the result as “good” only. Finished this course with great difficulties, mainly due to a cataract operation on my right eye that caused havoc and interruption while the course was going on.

The most interesting topic for me was “Magnetic field as an essential consequence of Special Theory of relativity.”

Enjoyed this course. This study of Electromagnetism gives me immense pleasure for two reasons: 1) It is exclusively related to my previous job, and 2) It is related to the nature of “Brahman” as described in Vedanta.

One of the most fascinating revelations during my course on Classical Electromagnetism—2 (Magnetostatics) at IIT Kanpur was the understanding that the magnetic field is not a fundamental entity in itself but an essential consequence of the Special Theory of Relativity.

This insight was not just intellectually satisfying—it was spiritually thrilling.

⚛️ Magnetism: A Relativistic View of Electricity

In the frame of Special Relativity, what we perceive as a magnetic field arises purely due to the relative motion of electric charges. From one frame of reference, there may be only an electric field. From another, that electric field transforms, revealing its magnetic counterpart.

In simple terms:

  • Electric and magnetic fields are not two separate forces but rather different expressions of a unified phenomenon, depending on the observer’s frame.

  • What you see depends on how you move.

This was a moment of clarity for me. I realized: Truth changes with perspective—unless we find what remains invariant.

A Personal Connection: Science Meets Sadhana

This subject is close to my heart for two reasons:

  1. Professional Relevance:
My earlier job involved working with electromagnetic systems. Understanding the subtle elegance behind these principles adds fresh depth to my experience.

  2. Spiritual Resonance with Vedanta:
In Vedantic philosophy, Brahman is the unchanging, eternal substratum—while the world of appearances (Maya) arises due to relative perception.

Just as the magnetic field emerges due to relative motion, duality appears when the Seer forgets its unity with the Seen. The multiplicity we experience is real only from a limited frame. From the absolute standpoint (pāramārthika Satya), there is no division—only One, non-dual Reality.

 Insights Bridging Physics and Consciousness

  • Relativity teaches us humility: there is no absolute frame in physics, just as there’s no absolute ego in Vedanta.

  • The play of electric and magnetic fields mirrors the dance of Nama and Rupa (name and form), emerging from the silent field of pure Being.

Electromagnetism, when seen through the lens of Vedanta, becomes more than science. It becomes a meditation on the relativity of experience and a path toward discovering the unchanging witness—the Self.

Books & Inspirations

The following books have profoundly inspired my contemplation on Vedanta, Consciousness, and Cosmology — each offering a unique window into the mystery where science meets spirit.

 Consciousness and Quantum Reality

  • The Conscious Universe — Dean Radin

  • The Nature of Consciousness: Essays on the Unity of Mind and Matter — Rupert Spira

  • The Holographic Universe — Michael Talbot

  • Quantum Enigma: Physics Encounters Consciousness — Bruce Rosenblum & Fred Kuttner

  • The Divine Matrix — Gregg Braden

  • Zero Point Field — Lynne McTaggart

  • Silicon: From the Invention of the Microprocessor to the New Science of Consciousness — Federico Faggin

 Bridging Science and Spiritual Wisdom

  • The Tao of Physics — Fritjof Capra

  • Wholeness and the Implicate Order — David Bohm

  • The Universe in a Single Atom — H.H. the Dalai Lama

  • The First Three Minutes — Steven Weinberg

  • A Brief History of Time — Stephen Hawking

 Vedanta and Shaiva Texts

  • The Principal Upanishads — S. Radhakrishnan

  • Kashmir Shaivism: The Secret Supreme — Swami Lakshman Joo

  • Pratyabhijnahrdayam: The Secret of Self-Recognition — Ksemaraja, trans. Jaideva Singh

  • Vedanta: Voice of Freedom — Swami Vivekananda

Each of these works points, in its own language, toward the same truth:
Consciousness is the field in which the universe arises, sustains, and returns to rest.

Love you all, my friends. ❤️🙏
